GapyearSG was started by two friends, who took the unconventional path to explore their interests and pursue their dreams. They found it challenging to find opportunities, and also experienced typical Singaporean stereotypes against the notion of taking gap years. The idea of a one-stop platform was thus conceived in hopes to reduce the stigma, provide resources and create opportunities for gappers to connect. GapyearSG seeks to create a warm community of gappers and sees value in students taking a year off to understand their purpose in life, instead of going straight to university, without actually knowing what their aspirations are.
